How to get your rebate faster
by Joe Ducey

'You see that low price on the phone, computer or television you want to buy and then you see the small print. The price is yours, after the rebate.

Rebates are such a hassle that a business has developed out of it. It’s called Rebate Remedy, a service that says they can help.

You sign up on the companies website, fill out a form that says your rebate will go to them, then send in your rebate paperwork.

If everything is in order they cut you a check or send it though Pay Pal and you’re done. No checking on the status or jumping though hoops to get your money.

Rebate Remedy also takes a cut. They charge a $2.50 processing fee per transaction and they take 20-to-30 percent of the rebate amount. The percentage increases as the value of the rebate goes up.

It may seem like a lot, but it can get you around months of frustration. The usual rebate can take 6 to 8 weeks to redeem. Rebate Remedy will get you your money within 2-to5 days after you send in your paperwork. They say it could be even faster if you use PayPal.

Again, this service is not for those of you who send in every rebate and navigate the red tape like a pro. It is for the people who say they’ll mail it in later or forget to follow up on a rebate they sent in weeks ago.
